Hello my name is Liam McNulty, I am a third year undergrad majoring in Biology, Health and Society, with a minor in History. I plan to graduate from UofM in 2028. Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative diseases are quite multifaceted, with many contributing factors. I aim to find out as much as possible as I can about them, in an attempt to help people with neurodegenerative diseases and prevent the onset of diseases like this.

I work with Julia Kravchenko, our main project is studying the relationship between Alzheimer's and Sleep. I am currently working on processes with a mouse model to study gene linkages to sleep. I've been learning techniques of harvesting, preservation, and slicing, in order to to image mouse neurons. I also have been working with a Drosophila model and SURFiN to attempt to find potential sleep-implicated genes. A main project I am working on is analyzing RbFox1 and Rbfox2 genes, through immunohistochemistry and fluorescence imaging.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside, playing sports like soccer and hockey, as well as reading books of any genre. I also love spending time with my friends and family.
