My primary research interests lie in elucidating the neurobiological mechanisms that underlie cognitive functions, particularly learning and memory, and how disruptions of these physiological processes contribute to pathological conditions. To address these questions, I have cultivated a multidisciplinary approach that combines expertise in in vitro electrophysiology, behavioral neuroscience, and molecular biology techniques which I deploy in rodent model systems to elucidate novel mechanistic pathways and potential therapeutic interventions to address cognitive deficits that occur in “normal” cognitive decline as well as neurodegenerative and psychiatric diseases.
